It’s pointless, it’s impractical, it’s ridiculous – it’s the Linea Pelle Alex Mini Cross Body Bag with extra long fringes:

How can anyone use this sensibly? Even with the zipper located at the top, those 3-feet long fringes are sure to get in the way. It’d be tempting to just wind all of the fringe around the purse itself but then you would have to unwind all of it again when you actually have to get something inside the purse.

It’s also meant to be worn low on the hip:

So not only do you have to deal with the length of the fringes, you also have to battle with the added length the long shoulder strap adds to the purse.

Things you cannot wear with the Linea Pelle Alex Mini Cross Body Bag:

  • Studded leggings (fringes might get caught in it)
  • Flats (lest the fringes drag to the ground especially if you’re vertically challenged)
  • Shorts or short skirts (especially if your legs are ticklish)
  • Studded, sequined, beaded anything because those fringes are just asking to get themselves caught in them

It’s exaggerated, excessive and over-the-top. It’s so outrageous in fact, that I think it would actually be a good accessory to make really bold statement.

What’s better than a ridiculous trend spewed forth by fashion to get people talking right? And if all you really want to wear is a basic little black dress, just hold this purse as a clutch under your arm and you can forgo putting on any other accessory.

The Linea Pelle Alex Mini Cross Body Bag is $295.00 (also available in Light Grey) at Shopbop.com.

Anyone who follows celebrity gossip websites would know by now that long time Hollywood couple Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens spent last week vacationing in Hawaii.

It looks like they had a great time relaxing, learning how to surf and spending time on the beach and all, but what was that tan cross body flap bag Vanessa Hudgens was seen using all throughout their Hawaii escapade?

I did some sleuthing again and thanks to another hi-res photo from a Vanessa Hudgens fan site, a close-up of the tag on Vanessa’s bag revealed that it’s from Cole Haan.

It was easy enough to find after that and I’ve ID’ed Vanessa Hudgens’ tan cross body flap bag with side fringe tassels as the Cole Haan Raleigh Whipstitch Small Crossbody Flap:

This luxe crossbody flap bag is made out of pebbled nubuck and the whipstitching was made entirely by hand. It’s a perfect match for Vanessa Hudgen’s boho chic style and would be great for travelling or for just running to the store like how Vanessa uses it.

If you want the exact color of Vanessa Hudgens bag, Endless.com has it for $298.00. If you want other colors, Zappos.com has three and they’re also offering better deals on them. They have the Black color which is going for $238.40, the Postman Blue Nubuck for $183.45, and a nice bright Lemon color priced the cheapest at just $169.00.

Looks like Vanessa Hudgens has found a new favorite handbag brand in Cole Haan!

Marc Jacobs Dancer Tassel Bag

Remember the Marc Jacobs fringe tassel bags I wrote about in a 3-part post on the Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 RTW collection?

Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 RTW tassel bags

Well, six months later, they’re still just as shudder-inducing:

They still look like living, breathing creatures, and those short fringe tassels look like they grew out of the gross eyelet pores. And the shiny leather with the quilted finish? Definitely not helping in making the bag look any less repulsive.

What I like about fringe details is that they make handbags irresistibly touchable but I’m imagining running my hand over this Marc Jacobs bag and it’s really not a good thought at all. Okay, maybe that’s the product of an overactive imagination, but this bag is making me want to take a razor to it to shave off all those dangling fringe tassels.

If you like this Marc Jacobs bag, the good news is that it’s now 20% off. Still really expensive though; the March Jacobs Dancer Tassel Bag is $2,000 (down from $2,500) at Bluefly.com.
