Eco-friendly Bags Vs. Victoria Beckham’s LV Fringe and Foxtail Bag

Wednesday, November 18, 2009 • by Erika

Victoria Beckham was recently spotted at London’s Heathrow Airport carrying the latest bag from the Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2010 collection. Yes, this bag isn’t even available for purchase yet but when you’ve got clout like Posh Spice, you get everything ahead of everyone else -and possibly for free too.

The realness of the foxtail is hotly debated right now and it looks like Marc Jacobs decided to put everything he could hang off of it. It’s got fur, it’s got fringes, it’s got the leather straps and it’s LV-monogrammed to death. Oh and it’s available in purple and lime too (VB carries the peach).

This bag doesn’t hit the stores until early 2010 and expect the retail price to be somewhere around the $2,500 range. In the meantime, we’ll be quite happy to get our fringe bag fix from brands who don’t feel the need to cut off a fox’s tail just to embellish their bags.

One of those brands is Novella Royale. Novella Royale designs luxury handbags created from recycled materials such as old jackets and vintage leather. This not only makes their bags earth-friendly but also makes each one unique in terms of distressing, color and seaming. Novella Royale uses only organic fabric to line all their handbags.

Penny Fringe Clutch from Novella Royale

We (and the earth) are loving this oversized Novella Royale Penny Fringe Clutch. Cut from recycled suede, this handmade clutch has all the luxurious feel of an expensive handbag without the wasteful manufacturing process. The interior is lined with a dark brown fabric and has a smaller zip pocket inside. It comes in forest green and brown, both accented with gold hardware.

We’re lucky to be living in a time when we can trace our purchases back to where they all originated from. Now there’s no excuse to make unwise choices. Being eco-friendly has never been this chic! The Novella Royale Penny Fringe Clutch is available at Shopbop.
