Is Jennifer Lopez making a comeback? After she hit it big in the late 90s to the early 00s with her albums, movies, and a clothing line and then very publicly hooking up and even getting married to a number of men, we didn’t see much of her since. Her long absence from the media led me to believe that Jennifer has already had her time in in the spotlight, but I guess I was wrong: we’re now seeing more and more of the 40-year-old multi-talented Latina this year like it was a Jennifer Lopez 2010 invasion.

Jennifer Lopez is currently very busy promoting her latest movie “The Back-Up Plan” and it has kept her stylists very busy too. They’ve managed to dress her in everything from cage dresses to cropped jackets to skin-tight suits, and for this stop in Paris, they put her in a sexy pair of Emilio Pucci thigh high boots:

I thought thigh high boots was only a trend for fall 2009, but looks like I was wrong about that too. If these photos of Jennifer Lopez sparks another thigh high boot craze, then those boots better be summer-weather-friendly.

The rest of Jennifer Lopez’s sidewalk outfit consists of a Andrew GN Fall 2010 top and a mini skirt, and the bag she’s carrying is the Jimmy Choo Tatum Shopper:

The picture above is the camel suede version. Jennifer Lopez is carrying the brown leather version with the woven snakeskin detail. This bag retails for $2,695.00.

I think we can achieve that same swingy fringe look for much, much less. Here’s the Horse+Nail Altair Suede Bag which is not cheap at $,1350.00 but is still half the price of the Jimmy Choo fringe bag:

Here’s one from Madewell at just $200.00:

And the casual looking yet ultra cheap leather shoulder bag from Hurley with the same swingy long fringes:

Do you think Jennifer Lopez will become one of this decade’s style icon again?

Cameron Diaz was dressed head to toe in Lanvin for the “Shrek Forever After” premiere held on April 21 in New York City:

Everything Cameron is wearing – from the dress to the purse down to the shoes – is all from the Lanvin Spring 2010 RTW collection.

The dress is draped beautifully on Cameron and I like how she broke up all the black with dainty nude heels. The purse with the tulle and chain strap is also very pretty, but I’m not really sold on the ribbon tied to one end:

It looks like it was haphazardly put together and not very well-made particularly for a Lanvin creation. They could have at least sealed the ends of the the ribbon to prevent it from fraying and fringing like what’s happening to Cameron’s purse in the picture.

In case you’re wondering, the Lanvin purses didn’t look like that on the runway and the ribbon on Cameron’s purse has really started to unravel from use:

The most attractive purse from the ones above for me has got to be the red one because at least the ribbons don’t look like I tied them onto the purse myself.

Bows and ribbons are very girly details and they add instant femininity to anything. They’re also close relatives of the fringe and would be great alternatives for it. I found a couple of evening purses like Cameron’s that have much sturdier ribbons, and for those who just can’t give up fringe, I also managed to find 2 evening purses like Cameron’s that have both bows and fringes.

Here are 2 beribboned evening purses that definitely won’t fray at the edges:

Franchi Handbags Shari Sequin, $179.00

Jessica McClintock Bow Frame with Lace, $58.00

And here are 2 evening purses with both bows and fringes:

Gwen Stefani and L.A.M.B. Surrey Clutch

Gwen Stefani sure did use the perfect accessories when she attended the Diego Della Valle’s Celebration of Tod’s Boutique and MOCA’s Jeffrey Deitch last April 15, 2010:

The 40-year old singer and fashion designer paired her shining silver dress with L.A.M.B. Zan strappy heels, a L.A.M.B. Surrey Clutch, and the best accessory of them all, her delectable rockstar husband Gavin Rossdale.

Yum. Now back to the clutch.

Gwen Stefani’s zippered leather clutch with a fringe tassel is a new release from her L.A.M.B. (Love Angel Music Baby) line:

L.A.M.B. Surrey Clutch

As you can see from Gwen Stefani’s pictures above, the clutch is pretty big almost to the point of being oversized. The fringe tassel is attached to a zipper along the sides of the clutch. The main access point is obviously the flap in front, but it’s not clear if that exterior zipper makes the the clutch roomier when opened. I hope it does because otherwise, the whole point of making the clutch oversized would be useless.

The coal color of this clutch matches with Gwen Stefani’s silver dress and black heels, but I think the other colors, particularly the royal, are more eye-catching:

You can also see the zipper and the textured details on the clutch better in these lighter colors. The L.A.M.B. Surrey Clutch is available for $199.00 at Zappos.com.
