Now that we’ve seen celebrity examples of how to wear fringe on fringe, it’s time we test out the theory for ourselves. This is definitely the fun part because we get to go shopping.

So here in part 2, I’ve made a compilation of stuff with fringe that you can mix and match with fringe handbags. Some are easy to do like the fringe accessories, but others like the fringe vest and the fringe tall boots would need more practice (and maybe more chutzpah).

Experiment with one or two pieces at the start until you feel more comfortable with it. Just keep in mind the 4 tricks to wearing fringe on fringe (vary the length, use different types of fringe, mind the placement of the fringe, and vary the amount of fringe on each item) and you’ll soon be doing fringe on fringe like a seasoned pro.

How to Wear Fringe on Fringe Part 1 of 2

Wearing fringe on fringe: is there a more terrible fashion faux pas?

Actually, wearing more than one fringe item doesn’t have to as criminal as it seems. There’s a trick to it see, and that trick is to vary things up.

What you want to do is:

  1. Vary the fringe length,
  2. Use different kinds of fringe,
  3. Change up the placement of the fringe, and
  4. Vary the amount of fringe each item of clothing as.

Better yet, here are examples of fringe on fringe outfits as worn by celebrities whom we’ve featured here on Fringe Handbags before. Check out how they’ve incorporated more than one fringe item in their outfits and make it look like it’s the most natural thing in the world:

Tinsley Mortimer pairs a silver fringe clutch with her layered purple mini dress

Mary Kate Olsen attends Paris Fashion Week S/S 2010 in a fringe jacket and carrying a beaded fringe wristlet

Hilary Duff braves the rain with a fringe scarf and a fringe purse in tow

Miley Cyrus likes her fringe pom pom bag paired with her fringe cowboy boots

Minnie Driver piles on brightly colored fringe with a yellow fringe bag and an orange fringe scarf

Stephanie Pratt‘s got on a furry fringe vest and a fringe tassel necklace with her Gerard Darel fringe hobo

Olivia Palermo tastefully combines feather fringe and metal fringe into one outfit

Check out Tinsley Mortimer’s use of varying lengths of fringe, Olivia Palermo’s combination of two different kinds of fringe, Stephanie Pratt’s stylish way of breaking up the fringe by using it on different items of clothing, and Mary Kate Olsen’s ingenious placement of fringe on the lower portion of her jacket and her bag’s bottom end.

Whose fringe on fringe outfit do you like the most?

I’ll be covering fringe stuff you can wear with your fringe handbag in part two of this blog post.

Twilight’s Ashley Greene was seen heading to a restaurant in Venice, California with a guy friend on Thursday, June 17. She brought out her Gucci Indy Bag with fringe tassels again that day, a bag which Ashley Greene absolutely loved bringing around with her last year.

Here’s a picture of Ashley Greene from Thursday:

And here are candids of Ashley Greene with her beloved Gucci Indy Bag from 2009:

Shopping in LA on September 3, 2009

Off to get a manicure and a pedicure on December 1, 2009

So it’s been more than seven months since Ashley Greene used her Gucci Indy Bag last. It’s nice to see that she’s resurrected an old favorite bag of hers and a fringed one at that.

The Gucci Indy Bag actually didn’t get favorable reviews when it was released in 2008, but I think Ashley has got one of the prettier ones. There’s an Indy Bag with the ugly Gucci monogram, one that’s overstudded, and one that’s got weird embroidery all over it, but Ashley’s Indy in just plain, rich, brown leather is chic and classy. No wonder Ashley keeps using it over and over again.

The Gucci Indy Bag isn’t available online anymore but fringe tassel bags like the Indy are pretty easy to find. Here are four of the hundreds I came across on online stores:

Cole Haan Phoebe Small Triple Zip Satchel, $358.40 (was $448.00)

Etienne Aigner Tucson Leather Tassel Tote, $104.99

Green Street Designs Marin Shoulder, $167.95 (was $200.00)

London Fog Emma LF1519, $108.00

All over $100.00 each, but these are still way cheaper than the Gucci Indy which go for as much 4,000 dollars. Holy moly!
