Reader Request: Kate Hudson’s Red Fringe Bag for LAX to Heathrow Flight

Saturday, September 25, 2010

Our reader Renee is asking if we can ID Kate Hudson’s red fringe bag which she took with her on a flight from LAX to Heathrow over two weeks ago:

Now this is a tough one. I wish I could say that I had found who makes this bag, but as much as Kate Hudson is a fan of fringe handbags, she is just as capricious when it comes to their brands. She’s carried the big luxury names like Jimmy Choo and Ralph Lauren before, but she also likes to mix things up with stuff from relatively lesser known brands and indie designers like Corto Moltedo, Goldenbleu, and Elliot Mann.

With all these brands to browse, it’s hard to narrow things down by my lonesome self. So in behalf of Renee, can someone please help put a name on Kate Hudson’s red fringe bag?

This isn’t much, but my best guess is that it could be one of those very popular J.J. Winters Suede Fringe Bags:

Though the two bags have the same braided strap, the same two-layer fringe, and what appears to be the same shape, I still say that this isn’t much because there are major differences between these two.

For one, their braid patterns are different. Two, the shoulder strap on Kate Hudson’s bag is much shorter. And three, the J.J. Winters Suede Fringe Bag doesn’t have a red color, although I know that designers make customized stuff for celebrities all the time.

So what do you think, could Kate Hudson’s bag be the J.J. Winters bag?

P.S. The lining of Kate Hudson’s bag was peeking out a little in one shot and it sort of looked like the metallic lining of the J.J. Winters bags. Sadly, I couldn’t find a hi-res photo of that shot so I had no way of clearly comparing the two.

Name that Purse: Hayden Panettiere’s Black Fringe Bag at LAX

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Hayden Panettiere was seen touching down at the Los Angeles International Airport on September 17th, looking as cute as ever in a drapey grey cardigan, a Van Halen vintage tee and distressed buckle boots:

September 17, 2010 – Hayden Panettiere arrives at LAX

I used to think that short hair was only for super tall, really lean people, but Hayden Panettiere has convinced me that petite people can look good with it too. She is really rockin’ this short brushed up style! Goes to show that all you really need to wear short hair is some attitude – or a knockout smile like hers in the picture on the right.

I’ve been trying to search for Miss Panettiere’s black fringe bag in these pictures but it all remains a mystery as of writing. Can anyone name Hayden Panettiere’s black fringe bag at LAX?

Here are some more pictures that could help:

The closest style to Hayden Panettiere’s black fringe bag that I found is this Hype Ellie Large Tote:

It’s a little smaller than HP’s bag with only 11.5″ H x 19″ L x 4.5″ D dimensions, but it’s also got the vertically placed fringes that extend over the bottom of the bag. Hayden Panettiere’s bag is also more dramatic with its thicker and longer fringes though, and I hope someone can help me ID it!

The Hype Ellie Large Tote is $295.00 at Endless.com.

Fringe with a Twist: Nanette Lepore Twisted Fringe Hobo

Nanette Lepore Twisted Fringe Hobo

I try to feature as many fringe handbags with a twist as I can here on our blog and this one from Nanette Lepore is exactly and literally that: a fringe handbag with a twist.

The fringes on this bag look like they were attached with the side up, left to drape over the bag, and then gathered to one end of the shoulder strap before the bag was put upright. Kind of like a side ponytail except it was done to a handbag and not to hair.

The Nanette Lepore Twisted Fringe Hobo is made of twisted metallic leather and suede with quilting and even more fringes at the sides. The hardware is brass, the lining is nylon and it has one zip compartment and two separate patch pockets inside. Its dimensions are 13″H x 16″L x 2″D and the strap drops 13″ from the shoulder.

If I hadn’t made it clear yet, I think this handbag is beautiful and it fits perfectly with Nanette Lepore’s elegant and feminine design aesthetics. It’s what we come to expect from the designer and as a fringe handbag lover, she doesn’t disappoint with the Nanette Lepore Twisted Fringe Hobo. Nanette Lepore always adds pretty little details to her creations and for this bag, she added the twist.

The Nanette Lepore Twisted Fringe Hobo is $475.00 at Shopbop.com. If you want this handbag for fall, you better hurry – there’s only three left in stock!
