Marc Jacobs Dancer Tassel Bag

Remember the Marc Jacobs fringe tassel bags I wrote about in a 3-part post on the Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 RTW collection?

Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 RTW tassel bags

Well, six months later, they’re still just as shudder-inducing:

March Jacobs Dancer Tassel Bag

They still look like living, breathing creatures, and those short fringe tassels look like they grew out of the gross eyelet pores. And the shiny leather with the quilted finish? Definitely not helping in making the bag look any less repulsive.

What I like about fringe details is that they make handbags irresistibly touchable but I’m imagining running my hand over this Marc Jacobs bag and it’s really not a good thought at all. Okay, maybe that’s the product of an overactive imagination, but this bag is making me want to take a razor to it to shave off all those dangling fringe tassels.

If you like this Marc Jacobs bag, the good news is that it’s now 20% off. Still really expensive though; the March Jacobs Dancer Tassel Bag is $2,000 (down from $2,500) at Bluefly.com.

Nicole Richie Steps Back to the 70s with the Thomas Wylde Ibiza Suede Fringe Bag

Saturday, August 21, 2010

Nicole Richie was seen out with husband Joel Madden for a shopping trip in West Hollywood, CA  last Sunday. She looked like a 70s flower child in her flared jeans, an embroidered silk jacket and carrying a suede fringe bag:

Nicole Richie may look vintage but her outfit actually consists of some of the latest releases from expensive premium brands and designer labels. Nicole is wearing the $78 Clementine Camisole and the $215 Himalaya Jacket from her own Winter Kate Line, a pair of $190 Paige Premium Laurel Canyon Jeans, and is carrying – hold on to your seats – the $2,200 Thomas Wylde Ibiza Suede Bag.

What she’s wearing in these pictures costs more than my entire wardrobe put together!

Here’s a closer look at the Thomas Wylde Ibize Suede Bag:

It’s an exquisite fringe handbag, but do you think using that many embellishments (beads, metal plate, suede fringe, silver fringe and god knows what else) make this bag worth $2,200?

If Nicole Richie paid full price for this bag then she’s really getting her money’s worth out of it: she’s been seen using this bag since last year, around the time she was still pregnant with her second child, Sparrow James.

Here are 4 fringe cross body bags that would give me Nicole Richie’s look and they don’t go anywhere near the $1,000 mark:

Clockwise from top left: Hurley Venue Shoulder Bag, $32.20; Lucky Brand Get Laced Fringe Crossbody, $99.00; Wendy Nichol Elk Fringe Satchel, $628.00; Minnetonka Cross Body Fringe Bag, $49.95

I could’ve gone lower with these and said none of these hit the $100 mark, but I just couldn’t resist the Wendy Nichol fringe satchel! Too cute!

Ellen Pompeo and Her Bohemian JADEtribe Fringe Tote for a Day at the Beach

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

Grey’s Anatomy Ellen Pompeo was seen with her husband Chris Ivery and their daughter Stella at Huntington Beach, CA last Sunday. Based on these pictures, they undeniably had a very good time:

Cute beach hat Stella!

As for the fringe tote Ellen Pompeo has on her shoulder, I’ve featured enough of these handbags to know that it’s unmistakably from JADEtribe:

The hand sewn stitches, the yarn fringes, the unique woven textile pattern – this bag might as well have JADEtribe written all over it.

Kimberly Hartman, the founder and creator of JADEtribe, has really defined her brand with this unique “beachy and bohemian jet set” style. Corduroy Magazine has a very informative interview with Miss Hartman wherein she describes the faraway lands that inspired her story. Read more about JADEtribe’s origins according to Miss Hartman and where she plans on taking the brand here at this link.

Ellen Pompeo’s fringe tote is not available anymore, but watch out for future styles of JADEtribe bags and accessories at Shopbop.com.
