I admit that when I first read the name “Junior Drake”, I initially thought that the brand was a kids’ line (yes, because of the word “junior” in it). Thankfully I had the good sense to click on the thumbnail of this Junior Drake Angela Leather Hobo Bag because wow, what a bag it is:

This is definitely no kid’s handbag. The shape is perfect, the leather looks really soft and buttery, the stitching detail is beautiful and that fringe tassel accessory makes it a great purse to feature here on Fringe Handbags.

I just had to find out more about Junior Drake and it turns out, the name was the stage name of 1950s actress Patsy Brown. The handbag line was created in honor of the legendary actress and to honor her equally legendary exuberant style. One favorite Patsy Brown story is when she was once complimented on an outfit she was wearing, she said, “Darling it’s not the dress, it’s the girl!”. The line eventually became the brand’s philosophy, changed a little to “It’s not the Bag, it’s the Girl!”.

It’s nice to have a sense of humor when it comes to fashion once in a while.
